Dan Aykroyd. You know him as a Blues Brother, a Ghostbuster, now he’s apparently an award-winning vodka producer. If you follow the right kind of media, you probably know that he is seriously into UFOs. But that’s not what we’re here to talk about today. No, we’re going to discuss a much more serious matter. I want to warn you now, if there are young children in the room, you may want to ask them to leave the web page. Because Dan Aykroyd may have slept with a ghost.
Is Dan Aykroyd Paranoid or Drunk?
You see, Dan Aykroyd is no stranger to controversial topics. Ufology is his most significant interest. He claims to have had encounters with the real men in black. He now filters his crystal-skull-bottled vodka through Herkimer diamonds because of their protective and healing properties.
But the weirdest thing by far is his apparent encounter with a ghost in the former home of Mama Cass. Mama Cass was a singer in the 1960s band The Mamas and The Papas, known for songs like “California Dreamin’” and “Monday, Monday.” Conspiracy theorists claim Mama Cass may have been killed by the CIA for involvement with the Manson Family, but that’s for another time.
Do Ghosts Worry About Their Weight?

What’s essential for this story is that Mama Cass did, in fact, die. Her Los Angeles home has gone through many other owners. Owners including Ringo Starr and Natalie Wood. Natalie Wood’s mysterious death is still considered an active investigation despite her death close to 40 years ago. Nevertheless, it wound up in the hands of the OG Ghostbuster, Dan Aykroyd.
Aykroyd, along with his wife, has maintained that the house is haunted. He claims that the spiritual inhabitants have done things like turn on his Stairmaster, and pushed jewelry across his dresser. At one point, he was pretty sure that the ghost was Mama Cass herself because, in his words, “I’m sure it’s Mama Cass because you get the feeling it’s a big ghost.” Can’t argue with that.
Did Dan Aykroyd Just Say He May Have Slept with a Ghost?

But his closest encounter with the wraith kind was a bit more personal. Aykroyd has said that he believes a ghost climbed into bed with him. And he was pretty sure it wasn’t asking for a bedtime story.
Going into a little more detail on the Joe Rogan Podcast, Dan Aykroyd said, “I had an experience one night, where something got into bed with me. I was alone, and it tried to come onto me, and I didn’t refuse it.” Woah there, what did you just say, Mr. Aykroyd? Did Dan Aykroyd just say he may have slept with a ghost?
Dan Aykroyd Snuggles with a Ghost?
He also said that the ghost “felt masculine,” and that he “felt a shape.” I told you to put the kids to bed, didn’t I? Aykroyd maintains that he was not under the influence of anything at the time. He was simply going to bed early because of work on a film. When asked how the episode concluded, he said, “You know what, I snuggled up next to it and went to sleep.” Not the final scene you were looking for, was it?

House Sold After Sleeping with a Ghost
Years later, Aykroyd ultimately sold the home, without knowing who the mysterious ghost-man-bigger-Mama Cass ghost was. The house was sold to Beverley D’Angelo of National Lampoon’s Vacation. Under California law, he was legally required to divulge this information, as California has a law requiring the disclosure of “any unusual activity” when selling a home.
Aykroyd previously maintained that the ghost in his house was Mama Cass herself, but had doubts after this experience and because she died in London. But there was one other suspect, though based on a rumor, of a man who “died of a drug overdose at a party and they buried him in the hillside.” Dan Aykroyd claims his daughter saw this man “walking with a little red-haired girl down the hall.” Either way, Dan Aykroyd, by his admission, slept with a ghost and snuggled up to it.
Dan Aykroyd, having slept with a ghost, puts a whole new interpretation on Ghostbusting, doesn’t it?
